Based on a Chinese folktale, Nasirdin Afandi is about a young boy named Kaisaer, from Xinjiang. Afandi is an old wise man revered by many that Kaisaer badly wants to become. Kaisaer’s scheming landlord makes use of him to gain the trust of the people by getting him to impersonate Afandi, which ultimately results in the real Afandi taking Kaisaer under his wing.
